20-year-old Serbian Grandmaster Milan Zajić is the winner of the first Student Chess Cup of the Koper Branch of MGU Lomonosov, which was part of the University open days, on Saturday, April 20. As many as 89 chess players from 16 countries took part in the tournament and was of high quality: 1 Grandmaster, 9 International masters and 14 FIDE masters. The average rating of the top ten chess players was as high as 2424 points.
The organizers - the Lomonosov Institute and the European Chess Academy have distributed wonderful awards, scholarships and tuition fees worth over 50,000 euros.

Zajić (Serbia) and Dobrovoljc (Slovenia) 7,5, Skuhala (Slovenia) and Usmanov (Russia) 7, Tomaszewski (Poland), Krylov in Niudleev (both Russia), Tisaj (Slovenia), Nikolovski (North Macedonija), Kuhmazov (Rusia) and Radovanović (Serbia) 6,5 etc.

The University of MGU Lomonosov Moscow, in cooperation with the University of Primorska in Koper, Slovenia and the European Chess Academy, announces its first Student Chess Cup 2019. The tournament will be held as part of the open days for prospective students in Koper, from April 19 to April 21, 2019.

Tournament: 9 rounds, Swiss system, playing time: 10 minutes + 5 seconds for each move.
Right to participate: Highschool students of third and fourth year, undergraduate students, postgraduate students, already graduated, all who would like to enroll in Master's studies at the Faculty of Management / University of Lomonosov. All participants have to know basic rules of chess, no extra chess knowledge is necessary.
The organizers will accept the first 150 applicants and add maximum 50 players by their choice.
Participation includes:
- free accommodation and food (Friday dinner, Saturday lunch as part of the tournament, dinner at the Closing ceremony), - free tournament fee, - info bag (materials about school, academic and chess programs, map of Koper, options for Sunday-Monday prolonged stay, souvenirs ...), - free parties with young people from all over the Europe.
Prizes:
The first 7 participants will be rewarded directly. All rewarded receive the scholarship, which can be used in this of the future years.

Additionally: The University of Lomonosov Moscow, in cooperation with the Faculty of Management in Koper and European Chess Academy, introduces the sensational, first Student Chess Program in Europe. The Chess program will complement the Master's degree in Economics.
Students will be able to train chess at different levels. The Program is thus suitable for chess players of any chess level and knowledge, and especially suitable for top chess players, to which we will offer special care (top trainings, tournaments) and prepare individual chess training programs for them. The academic program is also suitable for perfect beginners who will learn chess at introductory courses.
